Andy was born and raised on Colorado’s western slope.  Growing up he enjoyed the mountain life and stayed active skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer.  Due to some poor choices, he spent most of his twenties battling substance abuse and a pack-a-day cigarette habit.  By his late twenties he was severely out of shape, overweight, and pre-diabetic.  He eventually came to the realization that things needed to change and fitness played a huge part in his recovery…he started running and within a couple of years ran a couple of marathons and numerous other races.  He also became involved with RKC kettlebell training in an effort to develop overall athleticism.

His wife, Lara, started CrossFit in 2011 and finally convinced him to give it try a couple of years later…he was instantly hooked.  Andy and Lara spent close to 5 years at CrossFit Encounter in Littleton before deciding to build a home gym.  It was then that Andy took the L1 coaching course to be able to coach friends and learn the basics of programming.  After about a year of home workouts, Andy and Lara decided they missed the community aspect of gym membership and quickly found Redstone CrossFit to be a great fit.  Everyone was very welcoming and supportive!

When not at the gym, Andy is a full-time CPA with his own small practice focusing on tax planning and compliance.  Andy and Lara recently moved from the suburbs to Bailey, CO with their dog and two cats.  Their daughter, Samantha, is in her second year at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.
